THE Horwich partnership of professional Brian Sharrock and six-handicap amateur Brian Hill have won their way to the Portuguese final of the Lombard Trophy - Europe's biggest pro-am competition.
They fired a splendid 65 at the par-72 Dunham Forest course in to win the North of England final by a single shot from Sitwell Park, Leigh and Glossop.
Now they will join 15 other regional winners throughout Britain and Ireland for a five-day trip to the acclaimed San Lorenzo course on the Algarve from September 6-10.
While PGA Northern Region champion Sharrock was contributing three birdies and nine other regulation pars in the four-ball better-ball format, Hill conjured up three birdies of his own and a net
birdie.
But it was the pro's birdie three at the 382-yard final hole that clinched the trip abroad.
