A WOMAN falsely claimed nearly £11,000 in housing and council tax benefit over eight years, Bury magistrates were told.
Jane Roberts, of Oak Avenue, Whitefield, who admitted 14 charges of dishonesty, has already repaid the £10,954 she fraudulently claimed, the court heard.
She was given a three-year Community Rehabilitation Order and ordered to pay £500 costs.
The court was told that council benefit investigators uncovered the fraud in which Roberts claimed benefits using her previous name, Jane Miller, for a house in Grosvenor Street, Prestwich.
She hid the fact that her landlord was her husband and the father of her child.
The council is continuing its campaign to clamp down on benefit fraud. Anyone with information can call the Benefit Fraud Hotline on 0800 917 8179.
