MP Andy Burnham kicked TV's 100 Greatest World Cup moments into touch on Saturday to become a father for the second time.
He and his Dutch wife Frankie were enjoying clip No.63 of the Channel 4 programme when baby Rose Louise decided to make her entrance -- four days late.
The couple abandoned viewing and headed for Warrington General Hospital where their 7lb 8oz baby daughter was born at 4am on Sunday.
Delighted sports fan Andy, MP for Leigh, said: "It must have been all the excitement. The baby's a real little Labour Rose and will be known as Rosie. Daddy is besotted already."
The couple, who live in Golborne, met while they were students at Cambridge University, and have a two-year-old son, Jimmy.
Andy added: "Mum and baby are doing well and we'd like to thank the hospital staff who were wonderful. I shall be taking it easier this week, but the Market Street office is open for business as usual."
