MANCHESTER City are playing a dangerous game.
City have £25m to spend this summer and are competing with Man United, Liverpool and Newcastle for the likes of Nicolas Anelka and Silvain Distin.
It all begs the question: where are they getting their money from?
They don't have a rich board or benefactor nor any more television money than anyone else yet they are splashing the cash with the really big spenders.
The word is they are paying on the drip which means that is one heck of a debt hanging around their necks.
It will all be well within their budget if they stay in the Premiership next season as they should do with the players they have and the new ones they are bringing in.
But football has a habit of going pear shaped for one reason or another and if they go down they could end up going the same way as Bradford City who overspent in the Premiership a couple of years ago and went into administration last week.
