This weeks number is
charity
jam pledge ACCORDING to Duerr's, Britain's oldest and best-loved family owned marmalade manufacturer, charity begins at the breakfast table.
Duerr's has pledged to raise over £100,000 for The Cancer Research Campaign, making a donation to the charity for every jar sold of Duerr's Marmalade over the next twelve months.
Now the generous company has teamed up with electrical goods manufacturer Rowenta to give breakfast aficionados the chance to win a stunning black and silver toaster and kettle. For every jar that Duerr's gives away to our readers, they'll still make a donation to the charity. Duerr's firmly believes that once you've tasted their special recipe marmalades, you are sure to rush out and buy some of your own, raising even more funds for The Cancer Research Campaign.
Duerr's Marmalade comes in all the family favourites: Fine Cut, thick Cut and Shredless Seville Orange, Fine Cut Grapefruit and fine Cut Half Sugar Seville Orange. The 454g jars are sold for just 93p each and are available in all leading supermarkets.
In 1881, when a young Mary Duerr made jams and marmalades in her kitchen for her family to enjoy, little did she know that her recipes would be passed down through generations of the Duerr family and eventually sold at supermarkets not only throughout the UK but all over the world.
Today Duerr's purchase over 1,500 tonnes of Seville oranges each year and coverts 12 million oranges into their best marmalades. It only takes 45 minutes for a Seville orange to become a jar of Duerr's Marmalade and over 400 jars are filled every minute at their Manchester factory!
The Cancer Research Campaign is a leader in anti-cancer drug development and funds one third of all cancer research in the UK, supporting 700 projects across the country.
Successfully
Latest figures show that there are now a million people alive today who have been successfully treated for cancer in the last decade. They owe their lives to better treatments, new drugs and early detection - all products of research.
As well as free marmalade for a year, the first prize winner will also receive a Rowenta Cosmos cordless jug kettle, which never needs de-scaling and a matching two-slice cool touch toaster with softly curved design lines, in striking black with stylish silver highlights (both pictured right). It's so hot it's cool!
These prizes are from Rowenta's stunning range of kitchen products and are the perfect partners for any breakfast.
But don't worry, if you are not the lucky winner as Duerrs are offering 8 runners up a year's supply of Duerr's Marmalade.
HOW TO ENTER: To be in with a chance of winning one of the prizes on offer all you have to do is answer the two easy questions and send your completed entry form to Duerr's Marmalade Competition, Bolton Evening News, Churchgate, Bolton, BL1 1DE to arrive by first post 25th April or you can send an email to: comps@lancashire.newsquest.co.uk Usual Newsquest rules apply.
