TWO teenagers have been jailed for two years for their part in a street fight which left their victim with serious facial injuries.
Darren McHugh and his friend, Daniel O'Brien, attacked Peter Lovell after he argued with them over a smashed pub window, Bolton Crown Court was told.
Mr Lovell had pushed away McHugh, who had approached him with a bottle. While he was talking to O'Brien, McHugh smashed the bottle over Mr Lovell's head. O'Brien then punched him in the face, knocking him down. Both men then kicked Mr Lovell in the face as he lay unconscious.
Mr Lovell suffered a fractured jaw and had to have two plates inserted in his cheek. The plates may have to be left in permanently.
McHugh, aged 19, of Thompson Street, and O'Brien, aged 18, of Mersey Street, both Leigh, had appeared for sentence. They admitted unlawfully wounding.

Paul Treble, prosecuting, said Mr Lovell had been with his girlfriend and friends at the New Inn pub in Firs Lane, Leigh. A brick had been hurled through the window, and Lovell and others went outside to see who had thrown it.
Judge Morris said: "As a result of the attack Mr Lovell sustained grave injuries." The attack was so serious only custody was justified.
