A GREAT-GRANDMOTHER is staying on a maternity ward because the local authority will not pay for her choice of care home, it has been claimed.
Bridget Barrow, aged 92, has been in Whiston hospital, near St Helens, for six weeks and is waiting to be discharged, according to her daughter.
But the local social services department has said it cannot afford to pay the charge. Her family say she should get better treatment.
