"I ENJOYED reading the article on Syl Anderton, the TT rider and local motorcycle engineer," writes Mr Frank Jones, of Blake Gardens, Bolton.
You may recall that last week I wrote an article on Syl, telling of his successes.
Mr Jones goes on: "It brought back many pleasant memories to me, having worked for Syl on leaving school; my apprenticeship was cut short when Syl volunteered to become a ferry pilot between England and France during the war.
"I can well remember Jim, his brother, coming into the shop in his RAF uniform, and also his other brother, John, who has a chemist's shop in Crescent Road.
"Syl was such a nice person and was well liked by everyone who knew him. I never did get to go up in his Gypsy Moth aircraft from Barton Airport, but had the satisfaction of riding pillion on his Triumph Tiger 100 many times."
