Horwich'S new mayor and mayoress are looking forward to a year in office following their inauguration.
Cllr John Bragg and his wife, Eva, took up their roles in the public hall at Horwich Town Hall, with Cllr Bob Ronson taking up the post of deputy mayor.
Cllr Bragg was also mayor of the town six years ago, and his charities this year are the Horwich Visiting Service, of which he is vice-chairman, and Cancer Research UK.
The new mayor is also actively involved with the Horwich Tuesday Club, where lunches are provided for the elderly in the town.
Blackrod has also been celebrating the appointment of a new mayor, Cllr John Seddon, who is also chairman of Bolton's Community Health Council.
The chain of office was handed over by Cllr Pat Barrow at the town council's annual meeting. Blackrod's mayoress this year will be Cllr Isabel Seddon.
