PUPILS were allowed to return to their school today after 150 windows were smashed in one night.
Youngsters at George Tomlinson School, Kearsley, were sent home yesterday as it was too dangerous for them to be taught amid the broken glass and water-logged classrooms following heavy rain.
Only GCSE students were allowed into the school to sit exams while a team of glaziers spent the day completing emergency repairs and boarding up as many windows as possible to allow the other 500 pupils to return.
Headteacher Tony Buckley said: "The team of glaziers have returned today to continue the repairs, but some parts of the school are still cordoned off.
"The pupils seem happy to be back and two of them have given me information as to who the culprits might be so I will be following that up and contacting the police."
