IT has been known for some time that Clifton's 17 years old Andrew Griffiths has a big cricketing future ahead of him.
That was further endorsed on Saturday when he scored his maiden Bolton Association century to set up his side's eight wicket win over Little Hulton.
And he did it in quick time as well, the century coming off only 68 balls as he and pro David Parkinson, who hit 40, steered Clifton to a winning score of 162-2 with 22 overs to spare.
That was in reply to Little Hulton's 161-7, pro Ijaz their top scorer with 49 while Mike Edwards added 35.
Youth also had a fling at Darcy Lever, where their young side inflicted the first defeat of the season on Golborne.
Teenagers Nick Fawcett, Andy Stocks and Dominic Gavin all played their part in Darcy's win but the major contribution came from pro Bashir, who took 4-57 before hitting 65 in the three wicket win.
Golborne totalled 175 but that had looked a long way off when they were struggling at 89-6.
Fortunately Graham Marston survived two dropped catches to go on and hit 85 while pro Lee Baldwin added a useful 24.
As well as Bashir's wickets, Gavin took 3-44 and Stocks 3-61 before Fawcett added 43 with Darcy achieving their win in 39 overs. Dave Roberts was Golborne's top bowler with 4-60.
