A ROYAL line up of concerts have been organised in Bolton to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
In fact the town not only has a Last Night of the Proms Concert taking place, but a Brass Night at the Proms!
The Last Night of the Proms takes place on Saturday, July 6, 7.30pm at the Victoria Hall. It is being hosted by Bolton Hospice and celebrates its tenth anniversary as well as the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
Manchester's world famous Halle Orchestra will perform a variety of classic favourites including Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and Rule Britannia. And the orchestra will be conducted by Anthony Inglis.
This marks the return of what has been a spectacular event which has in previous years been a sell-out. The magical mix of live orchestral music combined with audience participation has traditionally provided an electric atmosphere at previous concerts.
Sponsors are Warburtons, TDG and The S Hodgkiss Charitable Trust.
Tickets, £12, £10 concessions, are from the Albert Hall Ticket Office on 01204 334400. All proceeds go to the Bolton Hospice in its tenth anniversary year.
Since opening a decade ago, the Hospice has cared for more than 10,000 patients at no cost to them, their families or their carers.
Brass Night at the Proms is on Sunday, June 2, 7.45pm, at Horwich RMI Club, Chorley New Road, Horwich. The concert features Smithills School Senior Brass Band.
Again, all the favourite rousing tunes will feature, and audience members can get into the spirit of things by wearing red, white and blue.
A lone piper, bunting and all the traditional "pomp" will feature.
All money raised goes to the Horwich Carnival charity funds. Tickets, £6.50 and £5.50 concessions, are from 468911 or 695742.
Young musicians from Bolton Music Service also celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee with a concert on Friday, 7.30pm at the Albert Halls, Bolton. The event will feature Bolton Youth Concert Band, Brass Band and Jazz Orchestra. Soloist will be Jim Muirhead from the Halle Orchestra on the saxophone and clarinet. The programme will include a variety of traditional favourites. Tickets, £6 and £4 concessions, are from 334400.
