MY first visit to a psychic's show was not very encouraging.
The curtains flew back to reveal a backdrop of a night sky with sparkling stars, while a guitar-solo version of Elvis's Always On My Mind blasted out of the speakers. A bit like a scene out of Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights.
But once on stage, there was something about experienced medium Mr Byrne's act which made it entertaining and thought-provoking.
He adopted the style of a stand-up comedian, cracking jokes in between telling people in the crowd about their loved lost ones.
He probably hopes this will put the audience at ease, but some seemed quite upset that he was dealing with such a sensitive subject matter in that way.
At times, like when he contacted a teenager who died in an accident on behalf of his mother, you felt very uncomfortable.
I suppose people should be aware of what the show entails and stay away if there is any chance they will be offended.
