at the libraries

PARENTS and children from Leigh, Atherton and Tyldesley are being asked what they think about their local library service.

Wigan Council's libraries are taking part in a national survey which aims to find out which services libraries should be providing for today's young people. For two weeks, starting on Monday, June 10, visitors to libraries will be asked to register their opinions and fill in a short questionnaire.

Kath Buddle, head of libraries and lifelong learning, said: "Nowadays, libraries are more than just about dusty books on shelves."

They provide a supportive environment, which can inform and empower children and young adults."

With the help of parents and children, we can gain important information to help us identify those services and facilities, which today's young people need."
