A FOOTBALL fan is set to make a huge noise in Korea and Japan during next month's World Cup.
For Steve Wood, who plays the euphonium in Sheffield Wednesday's Kop Band, has won a free plane seat to football finest festival.
Today the former Crompton Fold Primary School pupil is making the final preparations for his trip which will see him joining his bandmates in the land of the Rising Sun.
The 38-year-old Bolton-born soccer supporter had been unable to afford the plane tickets and it could have meant the England team playing without the accompaniment of a decent bass line.
But he appeared on the ITV show 'Your World Cup Pitch' and convinced judges he was worthy of travelling abroad to watch the country's footballers make their mark on world soccer.
Steve, who was born in George Street, near Burnden Park, said: "I can finally put a bit of oomph into England's performance. Hopefully a fully fit Beckham and our band can make all the difference."
