COLLEGE lectures were disrupted for a second day as lecturers went on strike over low pay.
A handful of lecturers manned a picket line at Bolton Community College claiming they wanted the strike to remain "low-key" as they were angry with their national employers and not the college.
More than 100 lecturers, who are members of the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education union, are involved in the dispute at the Manchester Road campus and Victoria Road site in Horwich after they were offered a 1.5 per cent pay increase.
A NATFHE member manning the picket line on Manchester Road, who did not want to be named, said: "This is a betrayal issue.
"We've got no real problem with the college, which is why we don't want to make too much fuss, but our pay should be on a par with that of teachers.
"I don't think anyone would disagree that a 1.5 per cent offer is insulting.
"Lecturers and staff from other unions have been crossing the picket line, but they have all given us messages of support and the students seem to agree with what we are doing."
Community College management did not want to comment on the strike action today.
