IT'S great news that Bury's future is almost secure.
A deal is expected to be done any day now which will secure their existence for the long term.
It will come as a huge relief to their fans who have spent months wondering if they would have a club to support next season.
Board members and the Save Our Shakers group deserve masses of credit for keeping the club alive and the big job in the future is to make sure something like this never happens again.
At a time when so many small clubs are tumbling headlong towards oblivion Bury must be grateful they have been given a second chance and run the club on a strict business footing in future.
Bury's financial demise was caused by the sudden disappearance of income from a benefactor who had bankrolled the club for the previous 10 years which is different to the common reason clubs find themselves in dire financial trouble which is because they are run by morons.
Almost every club in the country runs at a loss which is why several are already at financial breaking point and dozens more are heading inevitably towards the same fate.
They operate at a loss because the people in charge make decisions with their hearts and not their heads and when it all goes pear-shaped along comes the administrator to get the club back on a level footing.
It would be far easier if all clubs were run by administrators in the first place. That way all clubs' futures would be secured although football would be a lot more boring."
