ST ANDREW and St George United Reformed Church have an appetising series of lunchtime concerts lined up from this week.
The concerts start this Thursday and continue on the following weeks, June 6 and 13.
Pianist Simon Ellis is the first of the featured performers. Since completing his studies at the Royal Northern College of music, Simon has combined teaching privately with performances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. He regularly gives recitals in Chester and throughout the North West. Simon is also no stranger to these lunchtime concerts having been accompanist in previous occasions.
His solo recital will include Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, a Schubert impromptu and pieces by Faure and Chopin.
On June 6 a trio of Eccles Sixth Form College students will perform. Alex Harper (trumpet), Joe Harney (piano) and Kieron Merrett (flute) will take centre stage with Jeremy Plummer who teaches A-Level Music and Music Technology at the college. Jeremy is director of music at the Victoria Hall and also gives recitals locally. The programme will include pieces by Mathias, Debussy and Chopin.
The final concert in the series features the Carousel String Quartet comprising Paula Simpson and Sarah Hill on violin, Fiona Petersen on viola and Laura Dowling on violoncello. Their programme will include Bach, Elgar and Faure.
