THE Rotary Club recently took two Tyson coaches full of elderly, lonely people around the Dales in Yorkshire and nearby, having coffee in Settle and arriving in Carnforth for afternoon tea.
We made our journey back to Bolton, arriving home about 7.15pm.
I have never enjoyed a day out so much. Everything was so well organised, everybody was so happy when we arrived home after a seven-hour drive through the most beautiful countryside.
The driver played tapes during the homeward journey -- all the war-time songs which we all knew very well -- and joined in with a really good sing-song. Very many thanks to all who helped to organise such a wonderful day out and made many, like me, grateful that there are still so many folk ready and willing to give of their leisure time voluntarily. Thank you to the Rotary Club.
