THE STRONG blustery south-westerly wind and a heavy downpour ensured few players finished under par in the second round of the Summer Medal qualifier at Turton.

Shaun Bannister was lucky to just beat the rain and once again producing a very steady round to head the field. Early starter Adrian Foy had a very steady back nine which was in contrast to the only other two players to break par, Alan Banks and Bill Melling, who both found trouble coming home.

Robert Fairhurst had the shot of the day when he aced the second hole, but had the somewhat dubious distinction of being disqualified from the competition due to a handicap error on his card.
