HAYDOCK Park has come up with the perfect way to celebrate an England World Cup victory over Argentina next Friday (June 7) - a night at the races.
And, what's more, ladies get in for half price at the racecourse's first ladies' evening of 2002.
Haydock's popular ladies' evenings in the late spring and summer each attract crowds of 10,000 people.
Racecourse general manager and keen football fan Adam Waterworth said: "Like everyone else, I'll be glued to the television at lunchtime. I'm not contemplating anything else but an England victory, so I'm anticipating that it'll be a great night of racing a few hours later."
The Friday racenight is the middle fixture of Haydock's June three-day meeting when more than £100,000 of prize money is up for grabs.
Racegoers on Saturday get the added bonus of being able to view The Derby on TV screens around the racecourse. There will be a gap in racing so everyone can watch the big race from Epsom.
Channel 4 cameras will also be at Haydock that day when the feature listed races are the Golden Jubilee Celebration (John Of Gaunt) Stakes and the Stanley Racing Cecil Frail Stakes.
The first race on Thursday, June 6, is due off at 2.30pm, on Friday 6.40pm (last race 9.10pm) and on Saturday 1.45pm. On Friday and Saturday, entry to the Newton Enclosure is £7, Tattersalls £13, County Enclosure £22, and Premier Enclosure on the top floor of the Centenary Grandstand £35. On
Thursday, admission prices are £5, £11, £18 and £30 respectively.
Accompanied children under 16 enter free. Senior citizens and students, with appropriate identification, enter Tattersalls and the Newton Enclosure at half price. On Friday, ladies enter at half price. Advance tickets for all race meetings at Haydock are available by calling 01942 402624.
