MANY of us might forget about a camera film for a few months before having it processed, but Sue Jackson could have set a new record after leaving her film in a drawer for 25 years!
The 39-year-old, who works in the opticians at Asda, Horwich, had always intended to develop the mystery snaps, but kept forgetting about the film.
It moved with her from house to house, languishing in a chest of drawers.
This week Sue finally got round to asking her colleagues in the photo department of the Middlebrook store to develop the film.
And in the countdown to the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations, she was flabbergasted when the pictures turned out to be of the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977.
Sue, who was aged 14 when the pictures were taken, had no idea that the film, which was taken by a family member, was so old.
She was thrilled to finally see the 10 photos, which include scenes of a street party in Atherton where she and her family lived at the time as well as a day out in Leigh when the Queen was visiting the town.
When the Asda photo team enlarged the pictures even further, they were able to pick out the Queen and Prince Philip waving to the crowds. Sue, who now lives in Westhoughton, has worked at the supermarket for the past five years. She said: "I had no idea what was on the film. I thought it was just a few years old.
"I was amazed when I saw the pictures. You can see the bunting and decorations on the outside of our house for the street party. I can clearly remember helping to make them.
"I do remember the pictures being taken, but had forgotten about what happened to them."
Sue will be sending copies of the pictures to her mother and sister, who now live in South Africa.
