IS it not time that the Council Planning Committee looked seriously at the applications to build new housing developments, such as the one at Fish Fold Farm/Lee Hall, which has been repeatedly opposed by people who have no consideration for others?

Those on the north side of Lee Bank and Forest Drive built houses which blocked the outlook of those on Park Road, and those on the south side of the two "streets" (if the owners will tolerate the term) blocked the outlook of those on the north side. The proposed developments will not obstruct anyone's view, as no existing houses face them.

Other objections -- such as the doubtful presence of badgers, and the story of one or two rare weeds, are of far less significance than the fact that there is contravening growth in demand for good living conditions, and common sense and human understanding would support the plans -- particularly if the scale of the proposed development was reduced a little, to give each house a little more space.

The north-east corner of the area was, 150 years ago, one of the first growth areas of the new industrial Westhoughton, and some of the area is still a mess long after the houses have gone. The main value of the field nowadays is as a tip, for rubbish from nearby housing and occasionally from far afield.

Put public spirit and humanity before narrow unhumanistic selfishness.
