A MURDER hunt has been launched after the body of a woman was found behind Bolton Community College.
It was revealed today that the woman, who has not been named, was a 20-year-old prostitute. She was found with serious head injuries in a car park off Lower Bridgeman Street, near the town centre.
Originally from Liverpool, she had been living and working in Bolton for the last two years. Police have not released any further details about the woman because they are still trying to trace her relatives.
A post mortem examination was carried out on Saturday but proved inconclusive. Further tests are being carried out. The woman's body was discovered at about 5.40am on Saturday by a member of the public.
Det Supt David Brown, who is leading the investigation, said: "I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the car park between 1am and 5am on Saturday to come forward.
"We believe she was killed at the scene. The incident is being treated as murder and an incident room has been set up. We believe she received serious head injuries but the post mortem examination was inconclusive."
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 0161 856 5961.
