OLDER people who want to make a difference to their communities in Bolton could get a grant to start them off.
This week is the 18th National Volunteer Week and Help the Aged is urging people aged 55 or over to apply for a special citizenship grant.
More than £1 million has been made available to the charity through the Millennium Commission. The money will fund 600 individuals and groups of up to three people who want to make a difference to their local communities.
Applications must be made by the end of June. For details ring 0870 7703280, or pick up a leaflet from Help the Aged shops, libraries, post offices, and GP surgeries.
