USA took a sensational 3-0 lead against one of the tournament favourites in Suwon this morning - but then found themselves on the back foot as Portugal rallied.
John O'Brien gave the USA a great start after four minutes, a Jorge Costa own goal added another, and then Brian McBride made it three on 36 minutes.
But Portugal pulled one back through Roberto Luis Beto in the 40th minute and USA were forced on the defensive after the break as Portugal pressed forward.
The USA's Agos then scored a freak own goal, volleying the ball into his own net, as Portugal fired forward in search of an equaliser which would revive memories of their Eusebio-inspired fightback against Korea in the 1966 World Cup.
