CYCLING fans are being offered an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at one of Bolton's Commonwealth Games venues.
Games staff, cycling experts, route planners, marshals and a mini army of volunteer helpers have been working to get everything ready at Rivington for the events, which include time trials, road races and cross country mountain biking.
Now people are being offered the chance to tour the competition area in the comfort of a luxury coach. Blue Badge guides will tell the background story of the preparations for the cycling events as the coach gives them an exclusive peep at the area.
Cllr John Byrne, Bolton Council's Executive Member for the Games, said it was a unique opportunity for people to get an idea of the huge amount of organisation which went into a world-class event. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take a look behind the scenes," he said.
Two coach tour dates have been set for next Monday and June 26. The tour will take about two hours and tickets are available from Bolton Town Hall by calling 01204 334400.
