CHILDREN made some feathered friends when 'Barn Owl' Bill paid them a visit.
The bird expert, who runs a rescue centre in Preston, brought four owls to show the pupils at St James Primary School in Daisy Hill.
The Year Four and Six pupils had a chance to touch the two barn owls, a brown owl and a huge eagle owl.
Bill also gave the children an amusing talk on his rescue work with the birds. Mary Holowaty, administrator at the Hindley Road school, said: "Bill proved to be quite a character and all the children were very excited."
