A BOLTON farm is celebrating its new additions -- a pair of Euroasian eagle owls.
The 12-month-old birds are now part of Smithills Open Farm on Smithills Dean Road, run by Anthony Grimshaw, who had seen similar owls as part of a demonstration in the Lake District.
Mr Grimshaw said: "I hope to train these birds up so I can demonstrate them. Once they are tame it will be great to see them perform, and I know children will love to see them."
Smithills Open Farm already has many animals that the public can visit, like donkeys, sheep and chickens.
At the moment the owls' wing span is about four feet six inches, but Mr Grimshaw expects them to grow to six feet. And although they are still only young, the brown and cream birds stand two feet tall.
He added: "It'll be a great new attraction for the farm and a great addition to the animals we already have."
