LEIGH Harriers had their best results of the track and field league season on Sunday at Blackburn's Witton Park.
Competing in the U17 Girls Northern Division Two Central League, the Harriers team won second place out of a league of eight teams, scoring a record total for the club of 305 points.
Twelve year old Stephanie Orrell, star of the U13 team led the way with two fine performances in the sprints, winning the 150m and taking second place in the 75m.
In the U15 races Gema Farley gave a good all round performance winning the 75m B race, second in the 1500m, and third in the shot. Emma Morris also put on a similar display, taking second places in the high jump, javelin and 800m while Kate Leighton making her league debut for the club won the 200m B race and was fourth in the 100m.
The U17 team scored heavily for the club with over 100 points. Yasmin Foulds won the B 800m and was second in the B 1500m.
The U13 girls relay team ended a very successful afternoon racing to second place.
The final league match of the season will be on Sunday, July 21, at Oldham, with a good chance of promotion to Division One for the Harriers.
