A PUBLIC meeting to discuss the future of a doctor's surgery in Edenfield will be held tonight (Mon July 8).
The meeting has been called by the Edenfield Residents' Association following the distribution of consultation questionnaires by the local primary care trust which is considering moving the practice into Rawtenstall.
A number of residents in the Shuttleworth area use the surgery based in Market Street.
Mr Paul Bradburn, a member of the residents' association, said: "There had been a problem with questionnaires not being distributed in Shuttleworth, and although that is to be rectified, we have called a meeting to find out what people feel.
"No decision has yet been made on the future of the surgery. This meeting will give us an idea of how people feel. He added: "Moving the practice would also have an effect on the nearby pharmacy which would undoubtedly lose business as a result."
The meeting will be held in the community centre in Exchange Street starting at 8pm.
