THREE firemen had to lift an elderly woman out of a bath after she became trapped early today.
The 89-year-old, who is heavily-built and has a paralysed arm, got stuck while taking a dip at the Lyngate Rest Home on Wigan Road in Deane.
She was being lowered into the water when her support chair broke. Staff members were unable to get her out and she was trapped for about 20 minutes.
The firemen wrapped her in blankets before lifting her into a safety just after 8am.
They placed her in a wheelchair and paramedics soon arrived to make sure she was okay. But they decided she did not need to be taken to hospital.
