A MAN who saved his wife's life by pushing her out of the way of a hit and run driver has been transferred to Wythenshawe Hospital.
Peter Mullen, aged 63, from Pendlebury, was due to undergo skin grafts on his right leg at the Manchester hospital today after the incident which left him with serious injuries.
He has already undergone two emergency operations at the Royal Bolton Hospital and doctors fear he may lose his leg.
Mr Mullen, who is still recovering from open heart surgery he underwent four months earlier, was thrown into the air after pushing his wife Mavis out of the path of a speeding Toyota Corolla at a bus stop in Manchester Road, Bolton.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened last Wednesday at 8.10pm near the junction with Orlando Bridge.
Witnesses are asked to contact Bolton traffic unit on 0161 856 5972 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
