LET battle commence. Bolton's best brains will be up against their rivals from neighbouring Blackburn in the Lancashire Quiz Challenge.
The contest is being run by the Bolton Evening News in conjunction with BBC Radio Lancashire and GMR. The first head-to-head will be recorded in Blackburn tonight.
The quizmaster will be former Houghton Weavers frontman and now radio personality Norman Prince.
Representing Bolton will be a team of four from the Moses Gate pub in Farnworth. Captain John Whelan, a 52-year-old accountant, and his three team mates, including the pub's landlord, are quietly confident.
They are up against the Royal Oak, from Pleckgate, Blackburn, where the quiz will be recorded.
Eight teams from Bolton will pit their wits against teams from across the border over the summer in the hope of carrying off the title.
All the recordings will be broadcast on both radio stations.
Supporters who want to cheer on the Bolton team can turn up at the pub. Recording starts at 8.30pm.
