THE biggest win so far in the Bolton Evening News Naps competition has catapulted Quicksilver into contention for the coveted title.
When Sun Bird won the 3.50 at Haydock Park by a length on Saturday the price was an amazing 40-1 - and lifts the winners into seventh place from the depths of the no-hopers.
It was Quicksilver's first victory in 16 weeks, while Paul's Piano collected their seventh win of the season, yet are not even breaking even from the fictional £1 weekly stake.
Another team to break their duck were Idol Pops, but their selection of Hawk Wing - the 8-15 On Fav in the big race at Sandown - did them little good in the table.
They are now 159th, showing a deficit of £14.47!
Top winning bets each week have been Falcon Hill at 11-1, Snow Shoes and Bindaree at 20-1, Florentine Flutter at 8-1, The Judge 12-1, Sarangani at a massive 33-1, Rock of Gibraltar 9-1 and Barrantes, again a big winner at 33-1, Hideaway Heroine 16-1, Just James at 20-1, 10-1 shot CD Flyer, Rudi's Pet at 16-1, Bond Boy 14-1, Capricho 20-1, Tedburrow 11-1 and now 40-1 shot Sun Bird.
Two hundred teams are taking part in the Anthony Axford sponsored competition, with a first prize of £500 to the winners.
