TALENTED youngsters from Bolton Junior Youth Choir have been invited to appear at the largest youth music festival of its kind in Europe.
Music for Youth National Festival 2002 takes place this week at the Festival Hall on the South Bank in London.
The choir was invited to perform at the prestigious event following their impressive performance at the Music for Youth regional festival earlier this year.
Bolton Junior Youth Choir is a group of 38 children aged seven to 13 years, who come from across Bolton. They meet each Thursday evening at Bolton Music Centre, based at Deane School, under the guidance of director Susan Wilding.
The youngsters will be appearing together with full symphony orchestras, choirs, brass, jazz and rock bands.
Each performance is judged and awards are presented throughout the festival. From the event 30 groups are subsequently invited to play at the Music for Youth Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in November.
Bolton Music Centre scored another success last week when Bolton Junior Youth Orchestra performed a variety of "classical pop" music.
The orchestra performed popular favourites at the Albert Halls, under the musical direction of Clive Gandee.
