THIS was the happiest day of young mother Zoe Greenhalgh's life.
The picture was taken at her wedding to husband Chris in 1999. Today 25-year-old Zoe has less than a year to live.
She has been diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. But she intends to leave behind her a remarkable legacy -- the gift of life. Zoe has decided to donate her body to medical science in the hope that scientists can find cures for life-threatening illnesses.
In revealing her decision today Zoe, mother of two-year-old son, Alex, said: "It helps to know that there will be someone, somewhere who will be able to live because of me."
The Astley Bridge teacher was told in April that she had cancer. She is hoping that, as this week is National Transplant Week, many other people throughout Britain will follow her lead.
Even after her death Zoe intends to encourage more people to become organ donors. Her winning smile will be featured in a national advertising campaign aimed at increasing the number of donors.
Zoe said: "When I'm gone, Alex will be able to look up and see my face on buses and on posters at the side of the road and feel proud and say -- 'that's my mummy'."
