BOLTON'S Amir Khan returned from injury to produce two impressive performances to lift the gold medal in a home countries international.
The 15-year-old Smithills High School pupil represented England along with18 other boxers at different weights and ages in the 2002 Four Nations Boxing Championship .
In his first bout the Bury Boxing Club fighter stopped Gerald McManus from Scotland in the first round which earned him a clash with Martin Forde from Ireland, who previously beat his opponent Tony Janef from Wales. Amir, who lives at Heaton, had too much power and skill for his opponent and the bout was stopped in the first round.
England picked up eight gold medals in the tournament held at Everton Sports Centre, with Ireland 7, Scotland 4 and Wales 2.
