REGARDING the "chewing gum menace" (July 5).
I suggest this is just part of an ever growing problem in our society today. Thankfully, this anti-social behaviour seems to be indulged in by a small minority of the population, but is nonetheless unacceptable in any decent society.
In my opinion, if the problem had been addressed 30 years ago by some parents teaching children by example and loving training, we wouldn't have the present "couldn't care less, throw away" attitude we see today.
The expense of cleaning up the disgusting stuff seems pointless to me, when more will be deposited a week after!
One obvious solution is, of course, to stop the manufacture of chewing gum ... it's not essential is it? But I can't see that happening, can you?
