LANCASHIRE Road Club's reigning club champion, Mike Smith, smashed his long standing personal best time for a 30 mile time trial.

Personal best times are usually broken by a matter of seconds but Mike managed to reduce his best time by over six and a half minutes finishing in a time of 1 hour 9 minutes, finishing third overall and first veteran.

Other LRC members have been competing in events ranging from 10 miles upto 100 miles,

Frank Makin has recently produced times of 23:10 for the shortest distance, 1:02:19 for 25 miles and 2:14:05 for 50 miles while Keith Tattersall has finished a 50 mile race in a time of 2:16:25 and a 100 mile event in 4 hours 46 minutes becoming club 100 mile champion at the age of 70 in the process.

Ian Ainsworth has once again been competing over all available distances producing times of 2:25:45 for 50 miles and 4:53:54 for 100 miles.

The club took a team award in the NLTTA 50 mile event at Garstang recently with Keith Tattersall being backed up by Alex Munro and Colin Greenhalgh.

LRC club runs will continue throughout the comming months with club runners normally meeting outside the Royal Oak pub at 09:00 on Sunday mornings.

The ride on July 14th will be to the Beck Hall Cafe in Malham. Anyone wishing to join the run should turn up on the day with a roadbike (and spare inner tube - just in case!) you will be made very welcome
