HUDDERSFIELD are threatening to take Wanderers to a tribunal over Delroy Facey's transfer fee.

The Second Division club's chairman David Taylor insists Wanderers' offer remains well below their valuation of the 22-year-old striker.

The two clubs have been trying to agree a figure to avoid leaving a third party to decide the fee but Taylor says Wanderers will have to increase their offer significantly to strike a deal.

Wanderers moved quickly to sign the 22-year-old after his Terriers contract ended.

Taylor described Wanderers' initial offer as "derisory and ridiculous" and "about a tenth of what we are looking for" and, although the follow-up offer did not get the same dismissive treatment from Taylor he said it was still way off the mark.

The Huddersfield chairman says that unless a compromise can be reached withing the next week the fee will have to be decided by a tribunal.

"If negotiations have not reached a satisfactory conclusion in seven days, I will be referring it to a tribunal," Taylor revealed.

"Bolton did make an improved offer for Delroy last week, but it was still not as much as we hope to get for him.

"We have an idea of what figure we would like and we know what Bolton have offered. Comparing the two, my feeling is that the figure a tribunal would award would be nearer my figure than Bolton's."

Huddersfield's new manager Mick Wadsworth also called on Wanderers to make what he believes would be a fairer offer, adding: "There is a need for fairness to lower division clubs in terms of time and money they have spent developing players.

"Delroy Facey is the archetypal home grown player and we need to be paid for the hard work and investment we have made in him both in terms of training and salaries.

"I am not throwing mud at Bolton but that's how the system should be."
