A MAN who had to be airlifted from Bolton to a hospital in Leicester is believed to have been suffering from severe problems with his immune system.
As reported in the Bolton Evening News firefighters were called to the Royal Bolton Hospital to help paramedics airlift a patient to another hospital
The man, who was in the intensive care unit, needed an emergency transfer to Leicester just after 2.30am yesterday.
It is understood that he had problems with his immune system which was closing down and he needed emergency treatment.
Firefighters helped lift the man, his trolley and his monitoring equipment into the RAF Sea King helicopter.
The air ambulance is understood to have been dispatched from the Midlands.
