A MEETING of Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority's Transport Network Committee has welcomed the increased number of spring and summer bank holiday services this year and agreed to continue encouraging operators to provide more services in the future.
As a result of the authority helping to boost spring and summer bank holiday provision by agreeing to supplement bus companies' commercial services with funding for less financially viable routes, 11 operators stepped forward to provide full Sunday services and a further nine operators agreed to provide special services on Bank Holidays.
Many operators have reported that their services have been very successful, and that more passengers have used them than are normally carried on Sundays.
The Committee will receive a further report on plans for services during the Christmas and New Year period later in the year.
