LEIGH Miners Welfare Club is getting a visit from 'Mad' Frankie Fraser.
Hard-man Frankie, billed as "One of the great continuing professional criminal links of the last century" spent 42 years in prison from the 1930s to the 1980s and was a cell-mate and partner in crime to racecourse swindlers, train robbers and racketeers.
Enforcer, club owner, minder, company director, Broadmoor inmate, thief, firebomber and prison rioter Fraser's services were once sought by the notorious Kray twins but Frank threw in his lot with long-firm fraudsters Charlie and Eddie Richardson and their South London 'Torture Gang'.
He'll be giving first hand information on the Underworld at a sportsman's evening for former Leigh RL player John Costello's testimonial being held on Friday, August 23 at the Twist Lane club.
