WHEN the cast of the Radio Show "I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again" transferred to television it resulted in a split of personnel.

One section became Monty Python's Flying Circus and another group became The Goodies.

There was an obvious similarity in the off-the-wall humour of the two series although the Goodies moved away from the sketch format into something akin to a sitcom.

The humour was also more childlike which caused problems as the series became more of a children's favourite than adults while the BBC continued to try to show it in adult viewing slots.

The basic plot -- if it could be said to have one -- was that of three friends getting together to do good, hence the title.

It is a shame that, today, the Goodies are remembered more for their three seater bicycle and their pop hit "Funky Gibbon" than their very funny and clever comedy series.

Which Goody is better known these days for his bird-watching programmes?

Answer: Bill Oddie
