MANCHESTER has always boasted quality rock clubs, though admittedly they are few and far between.
The main contender is still Jilly's Rock World, which has been going for what seems like centuries and absolutely refuses to be dragged from its commitment to providing hundreds of rock lovers with somewhere to mosh.
But with nu-metal and rock experiencing something of a renaissance, it is perhaps no surprise that Saturday night's Rockkitchen at Manchester Met has become a popular choice for those who would rather set fire to their own head than listen to dance music.
With two rooms pumping out the music -- classic rock in the first and alternative rock, ska-punk and nu-metal in the second -- Rockkitchen is a veritable paradise for Boltonians who feel their tastes are far from catered for by the clubs on offer in their home town.
But whatever you do, don't miss the last train as a £30 taxi fare often offends.
