CLIFTON face a make or break day in their Bolton Association title hopes tomorrow when they host leaders and reigning champions Walshaw.

Clifton have been among the leading pack for most of the season but they took a tumble last weekend when they were beaten by Standish and Golborne and another setback tomorrow could see the gap grow too great to claw back.

They go into the game 36 points behind a Walshaw side going for their fourth successive title and cannot afford to lose if they are to keep their own hopes of winning the league alive.

Walshaw will be high in confidence after demolishing title rivals Atherton and drawing with third placed Little Hulton before reaching their first Cross Cup final in 21 years in midweek.

Spring View are eight points behind and face an unpredicatable Golborne side who need a victory to get back up with the chasing pack after slipping to ninth in recent weeks.

Third placed Little Hulton, 21 points off the pace, are at home to Adlington while Atherton, confidence dented by Walshaw's league and cup double over them in the last week, are favourites to improved their title hopes with a home game against second bottom Edgworth.

Rock bottom Daisy Hill will be desperate to get their long awaited first win of the season against third bottom Lostock while Elton, fresh from earning a Cross Cup final place in midweek, are at home to Standish and Blackrod host Darcy Lever.
