A FATHER is trying to get a pop song banned from being played in McDonalds restaurants across the country because of its sexual content.
Stuart Lever, who is a Conservative councillor on Bolton Council, visited the fast food chain on Chorley Old Road with his family when the track Sexual Freak by George Michael was played.
The song features sexual references which Cllr Lever was shocked to hear while enjoying his tea-time burger with wife Melanie and three-year-old daughter Olivia. Cllr Lever, aged 33, who represents the Astley Bridge ward, has now lodged an official complaint with the fast food giant and wants the song by the gay singer banned from its restaurants.
He said: "The song is unbelievably rude.
"Why it is being played in a family restaurant packed full of children, I just do not know. I was shocked. I went straight to the manager and asked him to turn it off.
"I was even more alarmed when I discovered that the song would be be playing in other restaurants up and down the country. What on earth are they thinking of?"
Sexual Freak is a song which was released last year.
A spokesman for McDonalds said: "The version we play is a radio edit and does not contain any expletives.
"We do take care when choosing the music that we have, but we apologise if the councillor is upset.
"It's no different from having it played on the radio. We do play-up-to date popular music for our customers."
