BOLTON Association will pin their hopes of beating the Northern League tomorrow on their batsmen.
The wicket at Fleetwood, where the match will be played, is reported to be hard and fast, and a run feast is expected.
Fortunately the Association are well stocked with players who can fit the bill.
Batsmen of the calibre of Rob Faulkner, Phil Wakefield, Tony Kelly and Brett Collins are all big match players while the side really does bat down the order.
Anthony Harris, who has been opening the Walshaw innings this season and has a century and other big scores to his credit may only come in at something like six or seven given the strong batting order in front of him.
And with Darcy Lever's talented teenager Nick Fawcett also capable of putting on solid displays the Association are capable of coming up with a big total, whether they bat first or do the chasing.
The batting line-up would also have been strengthened had the Association been able to call on Atherton's Philip West but he has been selected to play for Cheshire against Devon and Cornwall in a Minor Counties match at Sidmouth, starting on Sunday.
The team will be selected from a squad of 12 as a late decision will be made whether to use the medium pace of Darcy Lever's Andy Stocks or the spin of Elton's Mark Goddard.
There will also be a late decision on Andy Fox, who has been away on holiday, but who has also been troubled by a calf injury. Should he report back unfit then Steve Walsh of Astley and Tyldesley may step in.
