NICK Hinnigan, the BSF Tennis League's title holder in the Men's Singles, entertained the large body of spectators with a hard-hitting performance in a second round Men's Doubles match.
He was partnered by his South College team mate, Dave Gartside, against the Hawkshaw pairing of Andrew Jackson and Gareth Davies.
In addition to thunderous drives and overhead smashes, there was a mixture of deft cross-court drops and superb half-volley winners. But don't be misled. There were a number of unbelievable mis-hits also.
The unfinished 1st Round Men's Singles between the No 8 seed Andrew Livingston and 15-year-old Anthony Nolan continued in exactly the same vein as the previous evening. Again the set went to a tie-break and again it was the seed who came through 7-6(7-5), 7-6(7-4). Anthony couldn't complain about the result but he will rue the missed chances for breakthroughs on important points.
Play continues tonight at 6pm with the next rounds of matches in all the level singles events, followed by a number of handicap matches.
